The Summer Runner Series: 12 Weeks to Your Best 5K
Sunset Runs. Structured Progress. One Massive Finish Line.
As the evenings stretch out and the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to take your training outside. The Summer Runner Series is a high-energy, 12-week challenge designed to turn those longer evenings into tangible results.
How the Series Works
To get you race-ready for the Norman Park Parkrun on August 29th, we’ve split your training into two distinct focuses: the “Team Effort” and the “Engine Builder.”
1. The Coached Session: Flag Intervals
When: Every Thursday @ 18:00
Meeting Point: Unity23 Gym (We meet here, then head to Queensmead together)
The Experience: These are our “Main Event” sessions. After meeting at the gym, we’ll head over to Queensmead Recreational Ground for coach-led intervals. Training on the grass is great for injury prevention and building speed. With a coach by your side and the team at your back, you’ll push further than you ever would alone.
2. The Programmed Session: The Builder
When: Every Tuesday (Your Choice of Time)
Where: Your local park, pavement, or treadmill
The Experience: These are your “base-building” sessions. We provide the specific workout via the 12-week programme, and you get the miles in on your own terms. These solo runs are the “glue” that holds your training together, ensuring you have the stamina to match the speed we build on Thursdays.
Why Train With Us This Summer?
Longer Evenings & Outdoor Energy
There’s nothing like the buzz of a summer evening session. By meeting at Unity23 and heading to the park together, we make the most of the nicer weather and the fresh air at Queensmead. It’s the perfect way to decompress after work and get moving.
Professional Structure (For Free)
This isn’t just “going for a jog.” It’s a 13-week roadmap. By combining our expert-led Thursday sessions with your Tuesday “Builder” runs, you’ll peak just in time for the August 29th finale. No guesswork—just a clear path to the finish line.
Community Over Competition
Summer is for socialising. At Unity23, we ditch the egos. You’ll be training alongside a “fitness family” that keeps you accountable on the days you’d rather be at a BBQ. We start together, we train together, and we cross the line together.

The Finale: Race Day
Target: Saturday 29th August 2026
Location: Norman Park Parkrun
The Goal: Your 1st 5km or a brand new PB.
You don’t have to be fit to fit in here. Just turn up at Unity23, join the pack, and let’s get moving.
Every Thursday from 4th June – 20th Aug!
Time: 1800
Meet Point: Unity23
See you there!
